About the Birdfoot Festival

The Birdfoot Festival brings dynamic live chamber music to New Orleans each May. Taking its name from the branching footprint of the Mississippi River Delta, Birdfoot combines the qualities of an international music festival with a New Orleans approach to live music.

• Live Chamber Music—Chamber music is the ‘classical’ equivalent of a small jazz or blues band—intimate, expressive, and direct. Experience it played by today’s most exciting emerging artists collaborating with internationally recognized musicians.

• Mentoring, Education and Outreach—Birdfoot Festival artists coach, mentor, and inspire advanced school-age music students on the teamwork, leadership, and ensemble skills intrinsic to chamber music. 

• International quality with a local flavor—Birdfoot builds on New Orleans’s live music tradition by bringing outstanding classical and contemporary chamber music to the community in relaxed and accessible settings.
